Work for Racial Justice

The Racial Justice team has big plans for 2018!

Coming right up, if you’re able to travel to L.A. to support Black Lives Matter Los Angeles, there is a community meeting on Tuesday, January 23rd, 12-3 at 838 E. 6th St. The meeting will focus on the lack of prosecution of L.A. police officers who have shot citizens.

On March 8th, we will welcome Imam Tarek Mohamed of the Long Beach Islamic Center to our Thoughtful Thursday program. It is the first opportunity to explore a partnership with our Muslim neighbors. Please join us for food, conversation, new ideas, and fellowship!

We’re planning an intensive one-day workshop entitled Race and Racism: From Awareness to Action. The facilitator is Celia Young, a UU who specializes in challenging workshops that move us to shed our preconceptions and change the culture of our congregations. The date is May 5th – stay tuned for more information!
