Thinking About Attending General Assembly?

If there’s the slightest chance you’ll attend General Assembly in June, you need to be aware of this date:

March 1, 9:00 A.M. PST: Make your hotel reservation online or by phone.
Each year, the moment the GA Housing Reservation System opens, there’s a mad scramble to get the hotel of your choice at the special rate negotiated by the GA Planning Committee. This year, only 3 hotels have been reserved for GA-goers, and one of these is more than a half-mile from the convention center.
Information is already available at the UUA website – about the hotels and about the reservation system. Do your research early and be ready to act exactly at 9:00 AM on that date. If you decide later not to go, you can cancel without penalty. Go to uua.org/ga/travel.

Here’s one more important date:

March 31: Deadline for financial assistance.
Applications open March 1. Go to uua.org/ga/registration/financialaid for information about scholarships, volunteering, youth group grants, and “GA on a Budget.”
Be aware that our congregation will probably also have funds available to aid you financially. Ask UUCLB board members to share that information with you. Some GA/UUA aid requires that your local congregation also gives you aid. Your application may also have a higher priority if you are an official delegate from your congregation – so ask board members about becoming a delegate, too. First-timers are welcome to fill those positions.
Later there’ll be other steps to getting ready for GA. For a sneak peek, go to uua.org/ga. GA ‘19 is June 19-23, in Spokane, WA. For now, the main thing is to MARK YOUR CALENDAR for the hotel date!
