As the health and safety of our congregation is our most important priority, your church leaders have decided to cancel or postpone several church activities. Although the current health advisory only applies to gatherings of 250 or more, we know that the situation is changing rapidly, and we want to be especially mindful of the most vulnerable persons among our congregation.
Dear Church Members and Friends,
Worship, March 15, March 22 and March 29 CANCELED but join us on Facebook Live.
We will cancel our in-person worship gatherings through the end of March. For Sundays in April and beyond we will continue to re-assess the situation and keep you informed. We are currently making arrangements to hold an alternate worship service online through the church’s facebook page. You do not need to have a facebook account to participate. Just hit the link. Join us at 10am live! https://www.facebook.com/UUCLB/
St. Patrick’s Day Party, March 15 POSTPONED
We will postpone our St. Patrick’s Day party and reschedule for an appropriate date in the future. Thank you to all who have been working so hard to arrange this party. I know how disappointed we all are in needing to postpone. I think St. Patrick would agree that our member’s health is most important. If you’ve already made your stew – freeze it! It will keep.
Memorial Service for Dayla McDonald, March 21 POSTPONED
I have asked Dayla’s family and Nels to reschedule her Memorial. As we expected a lot of people to attend we need to find a time when we can all feel comfortable gathering and can give Dayla the honor that she deserves.
Other Sunday activities
We will postone the Social Justice Training scheduled for after worship on March 22, and cancel the Mid-Year Leadership Checking Meeting also scheduled for March 22 after worship.
Other weekday events at the church are not meeting in person.
Your church leadership is meeting regularly and monitoring the situation. We are relying on information from the Long Beach Health Department and other relevant sources. The Church Board will meet on Tuesday at 7pm for our regular monthly meeting. We will continue to be in touch via email with regular announcements as the situation evolves.
I encourage all of you to do what you can to care for yourselves and your loved ones at this trying time. Pay particular attention to the most vulnerable persons. Remember that social isolation and stress can be as debilitating as a virus. We can all be part of the solution. And we will get through this together.
