August Social Justice Collection

DAYS Long Beach: For more than 50 years, DAYS Long Beach has supported low-income, under-served families in Long Beach. They support achievement by providing children and families with opportunities to develop skills, apply concepts they have learned, and build positive relationships.

Through free educational programming and youth development activities, they continue to be a mainstay in the community. DAYS’ programs focus on youth education and support, leadership and academic success, and community engagement. Through a holistic approach to helping youth and families of Long Beach, DAYS Long Beach provides critical support to members of our community to help build future success.

Two examples of programs are the summer DAYS free six-week day camp and an after-school program during the year.

There are also youth leadership programs, and other campaigns that affect the health and welfare of the community are worked on as well. For more information, check out https://www.dayslb.org.

Our social justice collection takes place on the second Sunday, but you can support DAYS Long Beach until the last Sunday of August, by mail, text, or online. If by mail, note “Social Justice Collection” on your check, and send it to UUCLB, 5450 E. Atherton St., Long Beach, CA 90808. Using Text-to-Give, text the words “23 Special Collection” and the amount to 833-931-1845. To give $35, for example, text “23 Special Collection $35.” To cover any convenience fees for the church, you can add the word “cover” (so “23 Special Collection $35 cover”) or simply text “Cover fees on” to cover fees on all text gifts. For online giving go to uuclb.org/give.
