8th Principle “We, the congregation of the Long Beach Unitarian Universalist Church, covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.”
Don’t miss the upcoming Social Justice Forum on April 11th, after our Sunday Worship. We will be discussing the 8th Principle. Come to get your questions answered and to discuss adopting the 8th Principle. Click here to join after 11:20 pm.
May 23rd, at a Congregational Meeting, members will be voting on whether to adopt the 8th Principle.
UUCLB has always been aligned with the call for equity from the Black Lives Matter movement. The congregation showed our support in a congregational meeting on May 1st 2016 with an unanimous vote to adopt “A Resolution in Support of the Black Lives Matter Movement”. At that same congregational meeting we also voted in favor of displaying the large “Black Lives Matter and Black Trans Lives Matter” banner that is displayed outside, on the wall of Wylder Hall. Therefore, It is not a giant leap for UUCLB with our strongly committed Racial Justice church community to answer the call from Black Lives Unitarian Universalist in making the religions commitment to dismantling White Supremacy Culture, and joining the ranks of UU churches all over, in adopting the 8th Principle.
