Alpert Jewish Community Center
Are you longing for an upbeat evening in a room with passionate, compassionate people celebrating the diversity of our city and their shared desire to make it more just and welcoming? Then you belong at the table (or tables) the UUCLB Social Justice Council is organizing for the Long Beach Immigrant Rights Coalition’s annual fundraiser dinner on Saturday Oct. 13th at the Alpert Jewish Community Center, 6-9 pm. Among the groups being honored this year for their strong support for immigrants and refugees is St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. St. Luke’s is our partner in our Sacred Resistance work and in other programs such as the shower program. Other faith communities — Temple Israel and First Congregational, for example — will be there to honor them and we want to be there as well. Ask anyone who has gone before and they will tell you this event is always fun. This year, in addition to the usual, there will be a silent auction of original art and posters.
Our UUCLB table of 10 costs $450 so, if you can, we would love to have your $45 check toward its cost. But if this event really calls out to you and the cost is a strain on your budget, we have a few tickets that have been donated for the use of others. Let Norma Chinchilla (chinchil at csulb.edu

know if you want to be part of our table or tables. Spaces at tables and the tables themselves are going fast! You can drop off your check at the social justice table on Sunday or in the UUCLB office but clearly mark it for LBIRC dinner. For more information on the event: https://www.lbirc.org/fundraiser
