New Orleans—Help to Rebuild

Updated March 23, 2010

A group of 20 or so dedicated volunteers, young and old, from the Long Beach UU Church will be going to New Orleans in July of 2010. For one week they will do their small part to contribute to the holistic rebirth of Greater New Orleans and the Gulf Coast Region.

This group will be working with The New Orleans Rebirth Volunteer Program, the anchor program of the Center for Ethical Living and Social Justice Renewal. This organization provides more than work and housing to volunteers from across the country. The New Orleans Program provides a week-long curriculum from Saturday to Saturday, examines the history of the city, the flood and levee system breaches, and recovery.

The volunteers going to New Orleans, along with church members, friends and family, have raised over $4000.00 to help defray the costs for our individual members to go. Thanks for your help to make our "Mardi Gras" party and our fundraising efforts a big success!
