stewardship_march2010pdfGuidelines for Pledging

June, 2010

The 2009-2010 fiscal year was a huge success, in many ways, and a departure from some best practices. Ultimately, though, what matters is what you thought about it.

For example, instead of the 'visiting stewards' program that so many of you are used to, we held 'neighborhood meetings' in which 6-10 members/friends joined with a Stewardship facilitator to discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly, so to speak. While this seemed a positive process for many of you, any feedback you would be appreciated.

We have made our $250,000 goal! I am thrilled and grateful for the generosity of the congregation.

Come talk to any member of the Stewardship Committee Phyllis Daniel, Marlene Brown, Jill Smith, Grace Lorentzen, Pauline McMahon, or myself. Please also welcome new Committee Member, James Lang, and feel free to come join our team (fourth Thursday at 7pm, generally in the Lounge).

Thanks again for a wonderful Stewardship Season.

In faith,

Lara Helfer
(Chair, Stewardship Committee)

Planned Gifts

The Board of Trustees at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Long Beach has adopted a Policy Statement for Planned Gifts. Planned gifts are often thought of as gifts that are received after the donor dies, but this is not necessarily true. Planned gifts come in many different ways and are all set up to take full advantage of current federal tax laws. It is not unusual for the donor to increase her or his income by making the right kind of gift, so it is a win-win way of giving.

If you would like to know more before we produce a brochure, or if you have remembered UUCLB in your estate plans already, please let Rev. Furrer know. Call the church office (562) 597-8445 or email Rev. Furrer at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Thank you for considering the UU Church of Long Beach.
