I attend a UU church in Portland, Oregon and have created a website - www.JesusIsALiberal.org as a statement supporting liberal, progressive, thinking Christians.

Our website is for those who believe that the teachings of Jesus (and indeed most worldly spiritual prophets) outline a liberal, progressive, tolerant vision for our world.

We believe our spirituality compels us to act from conscience, from our hearts, and positive spiritual and moral values – values that actively support good deeds, honesty (personal and professional), the cessation of violence & war, fairness & social justice, the democratic process, gender, sexual & racial equality, a caring compassionate acceptance and tolerance for others, a healthy ecology, ecosystems and planetary environment, sustainable economics, and a holistic, and sustainable vision for our world.

We are looking for submissions, articles, and referrals to other websites that we might include on our website.

Please visit our site www.JesusIsALiberal.org, sign our guestbook & let us know your thoughts.

Peace – Love – Compassion,

Jonathan

After doing research on Thomas Jefferson, I became aware of the book of moral principles that he compiled from the Bible commonly referred to as the "Jeffersonian Bible." I further learned that Jefferson used the ideas of Unitarians in his extrapolation of the teachings of Jesus, while taking out all reference to supernatural events or names.

It was throught his search that I came to the Unitarian Universalist, and hence this website. Keep up the good work. I may stop in one day!!

The UU Church is truly an inspiring way to look at faith and the exploration of self and society. I grew up Catholic and have been floating around looking at quite a few faith traditions since about 2000. I am happy to see that there just might be a faith home for me and my partner.
